Shibuya Sky
Shibuya Sky is located within the Shibuya Scramble Square building in the heart of central Shibuya. In fact, it is located directly adjacent to Shibuya Station and is the tallest building in the district.
A visit to the top will bring you to a height of 229 meters (754 feet) with unobstructed views of the entire city. The ground level of the building is connected to Shibuya Station, while the first 14 floors contain retail space for shopping and dining.
The observation deck area begins on the 45th floor, high above the Shibuya Scramble crossing below. These areas of the attraction are split into three zones; Sky Gate, the entry portal on the 14th floor that will transport you up to level 45; Sky Stage, the rooftop observation deck that is completely outdoors; and Sky Gallery, an indoor observation deck on level 46 that includes art installations, bars, shops, and more.

How to Get Shibuya Sky Tickets
Shibuya Sky Tickets may be purchased at the ticket counter on the 14th floor of the Shibuya Scramble Square building or online from the venue directly. Due to overwhelming popularity, it is highly recommended to make your booking online to be able to visit on your desired day and time slot.
Entry tickets are sold in 20-minute increments, and once each time slot is sold out, no more reservations will be sold online or in person. Tickets are released four weeks in advance from the current date, so be sure to plan ahead and set a reminder to purchase tickets for your trip.
If possible, plan your visit for a day with a favourable weather forecast and remain flexible if tickets are still available.

Shibuya Sky Ticket Price
The current price for an adult Shibuya Sky ticket online is about US$ 17 with discounted prices for children. The Shibuya Sky price for infants aged three to five (about US$ 5), elementary school students (about US$ 8) and middle/high school students (US$ 13).
A full refund is available through Klook if you request a cancellation up to the day prior to your Shibuya Sky visit. On the day itself, you can still get a refund, less a 20% cancellation fee, if it is processed before your entry time.

Where is Shibuya Sky?
The Shibuya Sky building is located in Shibuya on the western side of Tokyo, one of the most popular destinations for tourists.
Shibuya Sky Address
Shibuya Sky Tokyo is in the Shibuya Scramble Square building, located directly along the South East side of Shibuya Station. The official address is 2-24-12 Shibuya-ku, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
How to Get to Shibuya Sky
If you are taking the train to Shibuya Sky Scramble, exit the train or subway at Shibuya Station and follow the yellow exit signs to Shibuya Scramble Square. The building is connected to Shibuya Station with ground-floor passageways.
Once inside the Shibuya Scramble Square building, utilize elevators or escalators within the retail space to make your way to the 14th floor and find the Shibuya Sky entrance.
If you are outside or coming from other areas of Shibuya, there is a direct elevator from the outdoors to the 14th-floor entrance of Shibuya Sky. It is located behind the bus terminal at the Miyamasuzaka Exit of Shibuya Station and is identified by the Shibuya Sky logo and employees displaying the latest ticket status.
If you are at the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, you will walk under the train tracks and find the Shibuya Scramble Square building and Shibuya Sky elevator to the left and under the building awning.
Shibuya Sky Opening Hours
The daily operating hours of Shibuya Sky are from 10:00 am until 10:30 pm. The last entry time permitted is 9:20 pm.
The only planned closure is New Year’s Day, but for other unannounced closures or changes in opening hours, it is best to check Shibuya Sky’s website.
The rooftop may be closed in case of extreme weather, such as rain or wind. However, the indoor Sky Gallery will still be open for views of Tokyo.
Best Time to Visit Shibuya Sky
Sunset is the most popular time to visit Shibuya Sky tree, and this will be reflected by these time slots selling out first. If you’d like to see the sunset from Shibuya Sky, research the sunset time of your visit and make your reservation as early as possible within the 4-week ticket opening window.
Sunset is a magical time to visit, as you can watch Tokyo transition from daytime to night with all of the glistening lights coming to life. The best time to arrive would be 1 hour before sunset to enjoy both an hour of daylight and 1 hour of night time views for the ultimate Shibuya Sky experience.
Once you enter, you are permitted to stay as long as you would like, so if only afternoon time slots are available, you can wait at the top for sunset/night if you would like. Otherwise, night time is our favourite for the neon views of Shibuya.
I do not recommend visiting in the morning, as the sun will be directly over east Tokyo and wash out the view where a majority of the famous landmarks you’d like to see, such as Skytree and Tokyo Tower, are located.
Shibuya Sky Zones
Shibuya Sky consists of three zones – Sky Gate, Sky Stage and the Sky Gallery.
Sky Gate
The entrance to Shibuya Sky is located on the 14th floor of the Shibuya Scramble Square building. Here you will find a ticket counter and dedicated entrance lanes for the current time slot. For any questions, Shibuya Sky employees are present to help.
Once in line with your tickets, a QR code reader permits you into the Sensing Hall, where you will queue for the elevators that will take you to the 45th floor. Once off these high-speed Transportation Pods, the Leading Line brings you up the escalator to a small lobby where you will find the lockers before exploring the next zone.
Sky Stage
The largest zone is the outdoor rooftop area of Shibuya Sky! Outside the lobby, you will find a small corner observation point looking over Shibuya Crossing, often with a queue of visitors waiting to take their picture in the corner of the tall glass above the scramble. But the main area of the observation deck is up the escalator to the right. Once up top of the roof, there are many attractions to experience:
- Sky Edge – corner of the roof with lights on the floor and lower glass panels. Usually, an official photo spot with a queue
- Cloud Hammock – hanging from the side of the helipad to relax
- Geo Compass – highest viewpoint and get oriented with the direction of each view
- Crossing Lights – light display every half hour beginning at 7 pm.
Be sure to experience all edges of the building around the helipad.
One edge is home to The Roof Bar, which opens at 4 pm. Reservations are needed for the seating area, but before 4 pm they are open to relax. Once open, you may also walk up to the outside of the bar for a drink.
To return down from Sky Stage, take the escalator on the left to make your way to the final zone.
You may ride down the escalator and back up the other escalator to the rooftop as much as you would like before finally exiting Shibuya Sky.
Sky Gallery
This is the indoor observation deck located on the 46th floor. It is a great way to wrap up your visit to Shibuya Sky, as it takes you around the building one final time for every viewpoint and leads to the exit. Along the way, you will find the Paradise bar/cafe, gift shop, and periodic art displays in this space.
Check the Shibuya Sky website to see if there are any upcoming special exhibits you may want to time up your visit with. Permanent installations include the Time River, Parallel Windows, and Data Scape for your viewing pleasure.
Facilities at Shibuya Sky
After taking the escalator from the 45th to 46th floor, there are indoor locker facilities located adjacent to the entrance of Sky Stage and the Sky Gallery. Lockers at Shibuya Sky cost 100 yen (under $1) so be sure to have those coins handy.
The lockers are a little on the small side, so adults may need to get their own locker depending on the size of their belongings.
Why is a locker necessary? Loose objects, bags, and outside food/drink are not permitted outdoors at the Sky Stage. This policy ensures the safety of all guests with the wind and heights experienced on the rooftop.
Essentially you are only allowed to take things outside that fit in your pocket or are attached to your body, such as a camera or clothing with straps. Even loose hats are not permitted! Smart phones, however, are ok.
Restrooms are also located here on the 46th floor. There are not any restrooms out on the Sky Stage.
Shibuya Sky Bars and Cafes
The Roof is located in the Sky Gate zone. This bar offers a walk-up option for a quick drink or a seating area that is for reservations only during opening hours. The Roof bar is open from 4 pm to 10 pm and reservations can be made on Shibuya Sky’s website, along with packages that include admission and drinks.
Paradise Lounge is located inside the Sky Gallery. It offers light snacks and drinks as well as music. Be sure to try the original favourites, such as hot dogs and potatoes, sky ice cream, and cocktails.
Shibuya Sky Shops and Merchandise
Of course, there is a Shibuya Sky souvenir shop! Stop by the Sky Gallery before exiting Shibuya Sky to check out a variety of original items only found here. In addition, any photos taken by the Shibuya Sky photographers can be purchased here for 1,500 yen (about US$ 11).
Top Tips for Shibuya Sky
Here are my top tips when planning a visit to Shibuya Sky.
- Purchase tickets four weeks in advance for optimal entry times. The best time is one hour before sunset to enjoy the attraction day and night.
- Monitor the weather forecast as the rooftop will close in high wind or rain. You can change your ticket one time before your time slot by visiting the ticket counter (subject to availability).
- Take the train or subway to Shibuya and enter the Scramble Square building without going outside, or take the elevator next to the bus station directly to the 14th-floor entry portal.
- Do not bring any large personal items, as the lockers are small and loose items are not permitted outside.
- Once you enter, you can stay as long as you would like. Come early and stay for sunset, or come late and watch the light show!
- Bring a jacket if it is windy or in the evening – it can get quite cold on the roof!
